We’re committed to working together to find an arrangement that suits you and your family’s needs. In the past few months, we’ve gotten lots of questions about MassHealth. Parents are wondering if we work with MassHealth, asking us what coverage they’ll get through MassHealth, and feeling confused on how to get started and asking many other questions. We’re here to help!
About MassHealth’s Coverage
There are six different MassHealth coverage types: Standard, CommonHealth, CarePlus, Family Assistance, Premium Assistance, and Limited. You can apply for coverage by completing a Massachusetts Application for Health and Dental Coverage and Help Paying Costs (also known as an ACA-3). Then, MassHealth will notify you about which program or coverage type you’re eligible for. The organization will offer you as much coverage as possible. Eligibility depends on factors such as income, citizenship, age, and special circumstances.
It’s also important to note that MassHealth only covers orthodontic treatment for children under 21. While some MassHealth coverage does include dental benefits for adults, the benefits don’t extend to braces or orthodontic treatment over the age of 21. If you’re a adult with MassHealth coverage looking to straighten your smile, our office can definitely assist you! Free Braces with MassHealth
If you are approved for coverage by MassHealth, you will not have any out-of-pocket costs for your orthodontic treatment – Phase I treatment, records, braces, appliances, retainers and retention visits are all covered. At this time, MassHealth only covers traditional metal braces and does not cover Invisalign treatment. While braces aren’t invisible, they are a tried and true way to effectively straighten your smile. If you’d like, we can compare braces and Invisalign treatment and costs at your free consultation to help you make an informed choice.
If your child has previously been denied for MassHealth orthodontic coverage with another office, we would be happy to advocate for your family and resubmit for coverage at your complimentary consultation. If coverage is still denied, we’ll talk about your child’s need for orthodontic treatment, the costs and your other financing options to find a solution for your family.
Has your family recently moved and is looking for a new orthodontist? If your child already has MassHealth Braces on from a different office and you have moved close to our office, we will submit for transfer coverage at your consultation.
